Big Mac Copycat

Big Mac Copycat

Burger Sauce (best made the day before):

140 g light mayonnaise

1 tbsp yellow mustard (French's)

2 tbsp sweet pickle relish

1 tbsp finely chopped onion

1/2 tsp vinegar

1/4 tsp paprika

1/8 tsp garlic powder

1/8 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp sugar

A pinch of celery salt

Mix everything together and refrigerate for a few hours before use, or ideally the day before if possible. Another tip is to chop the onion that will be used for the burger early and let it sit for a while to mellow the flavor. You can even chop it at the same time as making the sauce and store it in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to use.

Other ingredients:

480 g ground beef

6 hamburger buns

4 slices of cheese (the orange kind)

Finely shredded iceberg lettuce

Finely chopped onion

Start by dividing the ground beef into 8 balls and flatten them into patties on parchment paper. Cut the tops off two buns to create "middle buns," using the bottoms of these for the middle buns on the other two burgers. Slice the iceberg lettuce into very thin strips and finely chop the onion.

Heat a pan and season the patties with salt and black pepper. Cook the patties and assemble the burgers in this order:

  • Bottom bun

  • Burger sauce

  • Onion

  • Lettuce

  • Cheese

  • Beef patty

  • Middle bun

  • Burger sauce

  • Onion

  • Lettuce

  • Pickles

  • Beef patty

  • Top bun (with sesame seeds)
